Samachar Apts reinforce security after resident murder

The RWA of the co-operative group housing society of Samachar Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension on Sunday held a meeting to discuss steps to strengthen security at both the gates.

NP Radhakrishnan, president of the RWA, told City Spidey that security of residents was the main agenda at the meeting.

The meeting was called after a 65-year-old resident, Vijay Kumar, was stabbed to death by a woman on July 20. Police investigation had revealed that it was the lax security that possibly led to the crime. The horrific murder has stunned residents, spurring the RWA on to take immediate steps to reinforce the society's security.

"It was decided that three security guards would be deployed at each gate," said Radhakrishnan. "Of these three, one would guard the gate, another would manage the intercom and entry register, and the third would escort visitors to the flat they are visiting," Radhakrishnan said.

The security guards have been briefed to not allow visitors without a flat owner's confirmation.

"The guards are to follow our guidelines to the t," said Radhakrishnan. "In case a visitor does not comply with our rules, the guards are to inform the management office immediately."
