Dwarka: ANHLGT calls for full voter turnout in MCD polls

Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-together, a social organisation in Dwarka, organised an event at Beverly Park Apartments, Sector 22, on March 30 and appealed to residents to turn up for voting in the upcoming municipal  corporation election.

Speaking to the children and women at the event, Cicily Kodiyan, president of ANHLGT, said, “The election of the municipal corporation is more important than other elections because the elected representative looks after the basic amenities. We have to deal with them as far as civic issues are concerned. You children must ensure that your parents vote.”

Programmes based on the concept of a clean and green Dwarka and “Best out of Waste” for children were also part of the event. A salad-making competition was organised for women.

Children showcased their creations that they made from waste material and also expressed their views on a clean and green environment. The organisers gave away prizes, medals and certificates for their efforts.

Anajana Sinha, a social worker and resident of Dwarkadheesh Apartments, Sector 12, and Col (Retd) KS Chaudhry from Garden State Apartments, Sector 22, were the judges at the event.

Shashi Kapoor, president of Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi (another social organisation), and DC Mathur, secretary of SDKS, were also present on the occasion. They supported Kodiyan’s appeal for hundred percent voter turnout. Kapoor said, “In the previous election, there was only 12 per cent voter turnout from Dwarka. I support this campaign for hundred per cent voter turnout and our organisation is also making efforts in the direction.”

ANHLGT plans to conduct similar events in other societies too. Kodiyan told City Spidey, “We will organise an event in Sheetal Vihar Apartments, Sector 23, on March 31; at Millennium Apartments, Sector 9, on April 1; and at Green View Apartments, Sector 19, on April 4. There would be an event at Sanghmitra Apartments, Sector 4, on April 9; and at Kesarwani Apartments, Sector 5, on April10.”

“We will decide the schedule for more programmes soon as we plan to conduct such events till the last week of April,” she added.
