Greater Noida: A family, living in Gaur City society in Greater Noida, had a terrifying time when lift fell from 9th floor to the 6th floor on Sunday. They had a close shave from what could have been a disastrous incident. Luckily, no one got injured.
The family got stuck in the lift for nearly ten minutes before a child noticed voices coming from inside and rushed to inform the security guards.
PC Saxena, who live at 16th floor of Gaur City’s 6th Avenue, boarded the lift along with his wife and son from ground floor to reach his flat. When the lift reached 9th floor, it suddenly stopped for a moment and then fell down and got stuck between 6th and 7th floor.

“Suddenly the lift fell down with jerk and it stopped around 3 feet above 6th floor. I pushed alarm button and called on intercom repeatedly but no one noticed. Then, I started banging the gate. A boy, who live with his parents on 7th floor, heard the sound. Knowing that someone has got stuck in lift, the boy ran to security guard. Security guard then informed the management and finally we were rescued,” Saxena said.
A resident said that following the incident, the management decided to stop lift’s operation. The management then said that the services will be resumed after lift service provider will visit and repair it.
“Lift issue has become a serious concern for the residents as repeated incidents of failure of lifts have come into light from different towers. The management must take the matter seriously so that such incidents can be avoided,” said Amit Sharma, a resident of 6th Avenue of Gaur City.
