A team of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct soil testing of the ground for the upcoming river front project which would be developed on the banks of Hindon River in Ghaziabad, said officials of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

The horticulture department of the GDA has started the paper work for it. A letter has been sent to the IIT.

The GDA has earmarked a 3 kilometer area between Karhera and Hindon Railway bridge for this project. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared by the irrigation department. Officials of the irrigation department said that they would hire a consultant to prepare the DPR. Kanchan Verma, Vice-Chairperson of GDA, said that the cost of soil testing and preparation of DPR would be borne by the authority.

The project will be developed by GDA. Earlier, it was planned to be developed near city forest. However, due to unavailability of the land, the authority had to shift it at current location. The GDA is yet to take Non Objection Certificate (NOC) from the environment department.

The estimated cost for this project is around 400 crores. People commuting through GT Road and Hindon Elevated Road would be able to enjoy the sight.
