Dwarka: In the Dwarka cash van loot case, the Dwarka police has arrested two persons including driver of the vehicle. The case was solved within a week by the Dwarka police. They have recovered Rs 54.4 lakh which is a part of the robbed cash.
The incident happened on Thursday. Police received a call at the control room that a cash van was robbed at gunpoint and driver was waylaid by the criminals.
A custodian of the cash van Narendra Kumar informed police that he along with another custodian Vikas Chauhan went to Yes Bank ATM to fill cash near Manipal Hospital. He informed the police that when they returned after filling cash, they found that the van was missing.
The police had meanwhile received another call that the two other persons, who had accompanied the cash van to the ATM near Manipal Hospital, were found to be admitted at a hospital.
When police interrogated the driver, Dheeraj Puri, they came to know from him that he, along with gunman Vijay Kant Mishra, were waylaid by two armed robbers inside Dwarka. He said that two persons robbed cash from the van.
When police teams examined the CCTV footage, they found suspicious movement near the spot. They traced that a Hyundai Accent car was moving suspiciously at the time of the incident. They traced the movement of the car.
Later, police found that the car was used by Madan Lal who was a proclaimed offender. The police arrested him and recovered Rs 30 lakh from his possession. Lal, who is the main conspirator of the heist, said that the driver of the car, Dheeraj Puri was also involved in the robbery.
Lal also said that Puri had taken away his share of looted cash. Police were also successful in arresting Puri. They recovered Rs 24.4 lakh from his house.
