Noida: Continuing with its drive against defaulters, Noida Industrial Development Authority, the agency entrusted with the responsibility to implement the solid waste management (SWM) Act 2016, on Saturday, imposed a hefty fine on another major sweetmeat seller for not adhering to the rules.
According to the officer on special duty with the authority, IP Singh, said a surprise inspection was conducted at Haldiram's, a sweet and snacks manufacturer, to find out whether the outlet was following the rules while disposing of its waste.
He said as per the rules, it is the responsibility of bulk waste generators to make proper arrangement for disposal of wet waste. But, the defaulter did not take any step in this regard. Rather it went on disposing of the waste in a manner that is violative of the rules. A fine of Rs 1 lakh slapped on the sweet giant.
