Gurugram: After its formation on Wednesday, the vigilance wing in the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) had its first victim, a junior engineer. He was suspended by Additional Commissioner and head of the vigilance wing Amardeep Jain on charges of irregularities in his work.

Besides, a sub-divisional officer and an executive engineer were served show cause notices after an investigation found irregularities in the work on the green belt between Bristol Chowk and Khushboo Chowk on Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.

An MCG official confirmed that Sanjog Sharma has been suspended after irregularities were found in the project while other two officers have been issued show-cause notices. They have been asked to give an explanation for their misdemeanour. If their reply is not found satisfactory, further action will be taken against them as per rules.

The matter had coome to light last week when local Councillor RS Rathee wrote a letter to the MCG Commissioner demanding an inquiry over fraudulent payment of Rs. 35.35 lakh without carrying out any work in the 1.7 km track in Ward-34.
