Noida: Office bearers of 18 high rises in Sector 50 have been demanding a community centre from the city’s (Noida) development authority. In pursuance of their long-standing demand for the facility, on Saturday, they convened a joint meeting with officials of the authority and local MLA Pankaj Singh. 

At the meeting, the office bearers of the societies drew the attention of the dignitary to importance of a community centre for them. They pointed out that be it a community get-together, party or wedding ceremony, no function can be held without a community centre. 

Briefing the media on the meeting, Rajiva Singh, president of Noida Federation of Apartment owners’ Association (NOFAA), said that the local MLA gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the office bearers of 18 high rises in block-F of the sector. 

Among the issues they discussed with him is covering of naalas (drains) around Sector 50, which is pending for long. 

"We have demanded hand over of the new community centre built several months ago to the federation of block-F as this block lacks the facility," he said. 

The meeting was attended by Prof Rajesh Sahay, secretary general of NOFAA, Dr D Sharma, president of Federation of block-F, Sector 50, Prof Kaul, secretary, Federation of block-F, Balaparmeshwar, president of Antariksh Greens, Chetan Sethi, and residents of Antariksh Greens, Sector 50. 

Senior officer Indu Prakash Singh, the officer on special duty with the authority and SC Mishra, DGM of Public Health Department were also present at the meeting.
