Noida: Another car dashed into a U-turn boundary wall because of no reflectors on Monday early morning near Kesar Garden, a highrise in Sector 48, Noida. However, no major casualty was reported.
The car's bonnet was damaged in the accident. As per a passersby, while taking the turn, the vehicle dashed into the boundary because of non-visibility.
Brajesh Kumar Sharma, a passerby said, “Accidents are bound to take place. Had there been reflectors or glowing paint, the accident could have been avoided. During fog, the visibility decreases.”
The number of cases related to accidents at U-turn have exponentially increased this winter because of the broken U-turns, eroding of glowing paint from walls and lack of reflector.
This was third such incident in a month at this particular U-turn. But the most serious accident happened last month when a speeding car rammed into the same wall of the U-turn on the main road near Kesar Garden due to dense fog and absence of reflector.
The issues of U-turns and unorganised diversions have been in debate for long. The U-turns, which are meant to decongest the city roads, have rather added to the congestion, caused many accidents and affected smooth traffic flow.
The wrongly positioned U-turn forces commuters to take a wrong lane risking an accident.
Residents of the city have demanded the Noida Authority to take necessary steps so that no such incident recur in future. They have complained that there were several U-turns in the city where reflectors need to be put up for the safety of the commuters.
