Delhi polls 2020: Kejriwal roadshow on nomination eve

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also the convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Monday, embarked on a massive roadshow on the eve of his nomination for the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled to be held on February 8.

To start with, the AAP chief took the blessings of his mother before embarking on the roadshow from the iconic Valmiki Mandir in the afternoon.

Minutes before starting the roadshow, Kejriwal, who will defend his New Delhi constituency for the third time, tweeted recalling the rally his party took out from the same temple in 2013 for its electoral debut.

The tweet read: “It was from here in 2013 that we took a broom for the first time to cleanse the politics. Today, I am here once again to take the blessings of Lord Valmiki as I am going to file my nomination.”

The roadshow set off at around 1 pm and ended at the Hanuman Mandir in Central Delhi. Kejriwal, then, put in his papers.

Standing atop an open-top motorcade cruising along the way surrounded by a sea of supporters with brooms (the party symbol) in their hands and the chant of the party’s re-election slogan on their lips.

The oft-repeated slogan, “Acchhe beete panch saal, lage raho Kejriwal (past five years have been good, keep going with Kejriwal)” rent the air along the way.
