New Delhi: East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday visited Ghazipur landfill site for seventh time to inspect the area. He asked the concerned authorities to reduce the height of the giant landfill.

Councillor Anju Kamalkant, member of standing committee (EDMC) Sandeep Kapoor and Commissioner East Delhi, Dilraj Kaur were also present on the occasion.

The MP asked the EDMC officials to find a better way to reduce the height of landfill. Giving strict instructions, he said, “We don't want to hear any excuse. You can convey what all you need to reduce height to my PA. All the required resources will be provided.”

Member of standing committee said, “We are doing our best to recycle the garbage. But the problem is that refined garbage stays here. We could find other place to separate refined garbage. We can definitely reduce the height of the landfill site.”

Later in a meeting with EDMC officials, Gautam Gambhir said, “It is our priority to reduce height of the landfill. If we needed other agencies, we should ask for help.” He insisted on contacting NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) for completing this task.
