New Delhi: The Delhi Jal Board has issued a letter to all RWAs and housing societies asking them to ensure installation of rainwater harvesting plant before the onset of monsoons. March 30 is the deadline set for the task.

Various housing societies have already started campaigning for rainwater harvesting though it is being said that the date of its implementation could be extended.

Ajay Gupta, general secretary of Federation of Group Housing Societies of IP Extension said, "People were taught about benefits of rainwater harvesting. We are trying to enable all the societies install the plants before March 30 as per the notice issued to them by the Delhi Jal Board.”

On Sundays, an awareness talk was held at Himalaya and Pariwar Apartments of IP Extension. Gupta said, “We discussed various points related to the installation of the plant. We are calculating the cost to be borne by the federation or flat owner. We are seeking expert opinion so that the plants can be installed on all the rooftops of the apartments.”

Last year in the month of November, the Delhi Jal Board had sent a similar letter to all concerned RWAs to ensure water preservation.
