Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), on Monday, approved the budget proposals for the fiscal year 2020-21 in its sixth meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The meeting was held at the Public Works Department rest house.
The GMDA estimated a Rs 1,608.83 crore expenditure for the fiscal year 2020-21 and an earning of Rs 1,173 crore from various sources. The authority intends to make up the difference of Rs 435.83 crore through EDC. Also, the EDC received by the Department of Town and Country Planning in the notified area of the GMDA after its formation will be collected to meet the deficit of about Rs 2,700 crore.
Rs 528.21 crore will be spent on capital works, of which Rs 338.26 crore on development of infrastructure, Rs 100.95 crore on mobility management, Rs 15.50 crore on urban environment and Rs 73.50 crore for social infrastructure.
In addition, an amount of Rs 522.48 crore would be spent on EDC-based work. Not only this, Rs 595.30 crore would be spent on operations and maintenance, in which Rs 244.77 crore is proposed to be spent on maintenance of roads, Rs 250.53 crore on drinking water supply, sewerage and drainage.
An amount of about Rs 48.72 crore would be spent on establishment and administration, Rs 9.12 crore on GIS and Rs 5 crore on other works.
The GMDA expects to get an allocation of Rs 250.52 crore from cess and other charges, Rs 249.22 crore from water bills and water tank charges, Rs 40 lakh from booking of GMDA sports stadium and about Rs 90 lakh from traffic management.
Similarly, about Rs 250 crore is expected from fees and stamp duty while Rs 627.48 crore is expected from external development charges. The state government has sanctioned one per cent of stamp duty for the GMDA from April 1.
GMDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) VS Kundu said that the authority has taken Rs 500 crore from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to initiate the development of projects in the city and repay after receiving the EDC amount.
“EDC amount of Rs 627.48 crore will be provided by the Department of Town and Country Planning. This includes the EDC amount of about 105 crore for the financial year 2019-20, the recovery of which is still pending,” the CEO said.
