Dwarka: The neighbourhood park besides Radhika Apartments in Sector 14 has become a place for drug addicts and open drinking these days. Residents said that due to lockdown and no use of park by the residents, it has become a place for hooligans.
President of RWA, Jaipal Singh said, “The park has become a security threat. One could see the drug addicts and hooligans sitting and consuming alcohol and drugs. Though the park has not been in use since the lockdown started in March, they are still using it. Now we want to open but a bit worried about the security and safety.”
The park is also used by the residents of Radhika Apartments to access the society from the metro station taking a short cut. But since the metro services has been halted, the path is not in use and that is also making the park isolated.
“We are waiting for the metro services to start so that people could use the path across the park to reach our society. If it starts, we will open the gate for the residents to use the park. In that condition, due to use of road from the middle of the park to access the metro station, such anti-social activities would automatically get minimised and checked,” he said.
Residents also said that there was a news of proper police patrolling in the area. RK Sharma, a resident said, “These days, patrolling is needed in the park and its surroundings.”
On the subject, the area SHO, Sanjay Kundu assured to look into it and do the needful.
