Noida: The Gautam Budh Nagar police on Friday arrested five persons for violating the curbs imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic in Noida and Greater Noida.
As per police, they have also issued challans to nearly 1,300 vehicle owners across the twin cities. 17 vehicles were also impounded by the police.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Section 144 is effective in Noida and Greater Noida. It bars assembly of more than four persons.
“Two FIRs were registered and five people arrested for violating curbs imposed due to the pandemic on Friday. A total of 4,325 vehicles were checked across 200 barrier points in the district and challans issued to 1,280 of them while another 17 were impounded,” the police was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.
The police also informed that they have collected a collective fine of Rs 2,40,300 during the action.
