Delhi records 3,390 new coronavirus cases; deaths in excess of 40 again
New Delhi: Delhi on Wednesday recorded 3,390 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the cumulative tally to 2,79,715. The number of new cases reported came out of 59,807 tests conducted on the previous day. The positivity rate was 5.67 per cent.
Delhi recorded 3,227 fresh cases on Tuesday, 1,984 on Monday, 3,292 on Sunday, 3,372 on Saturday, 3,827 on Friday, 3,834 on Thursday and 3,714 on Wednesday.
59,807 tests were conducted, of which 11,184 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 48,623 were rapid antigen tests. 59,102 tests were conducted on Monday, 36,302 on Sunday, 51,416 tests on Saturday, 57,688 on Friday, 59,134 tests Thursday, 59,183 on Wednesday and 59,580 on Tuesday. 30,79,965 tests have been done so far.
The coronavirus deaths continued to be a worrying factor in the city. The fatalities have increased of late. 41 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll has now reached 5,361. On Tuesday, 48 deaths were reported, which was the highest single-day fatalities since July 16. On September 26, Delhi had reported 46 deaths, while the figures for the next two days were 42 and 37 respectively.
On the other hand, Delhi reported almost 4,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours. 3,965 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 2,47,446 in the national capital. The recovery rate increased to 88.46 from 88.11 per cent on the previous day.
The recoveries outnumbered the new cases by a significant margin on Wednesday. It affected the active cases positively. Active cases declined by 616 in the city. Delhi has now 26,908 active cases. The active cases have come down in the last few days after crossing the 30,000 mark during the last upsurge in cases.
Out of the 15,834 total beds available for Covid-19 patients, 6,283 are occupied, and 9,551 beds are vacant. A total of 15,657 patients are under home isolation in Delhi.
