Enforcement of HSRP, fuel sticker delayed till further orders in Delhi

New Delhi: Following the difficulties faced in enforcement, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot ordered a delay in implementation of high security registration plates (HSRP) or colour-coded fuel stickers till further orders.

On September 22, the transport department had issued an order stating enforcement drive would start soon against the vehicles that don’t have HSRPs or fuel stickers.

It had led to hurry among the vehicle owners to book the slot for getting HSRPs and fuel stickers. Many vehicle owners had complained that their plates were not ready when they visited the designated centres.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, the Transport Minister took stock of the situation in consultation with representatives from the transport department, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and HSRP manufacturers.

Gahlot ordered that no appointment for HSRP should be taken until there is a proper system in place. He said that vehicle owners should get enough time to get the HSRPs and fuel stickers before enforcement of the rules.
