School fees: With no relief in Covid times, parents to move appellate authority

Noida: In the challenging times due to the coronavirus pandemic, many families are finding it difficult to make ends meet. But the school administrations are adamant on collecting the dues and threatening the parents to stop imparting education to their wards.

Babita, a parent, who lost her job during the initial period of Covid-19, says, “It has now become extremely difficult for me to pay schools fees to the administration timely as I have been jobless since last few months.”

“The school administration is not ready to cooperate during the challenging times, as services of online classes to her children have been disrupted over the dues,” she added.

She has urged the administration to allow her to deposit the dues in instalments. But the administration is not ready as online classes have been discontinued.

She is not alone who has been facing financial problems as there are many. PR Singh, another parent said that he has also talked to school administration and urged them for waving off the dues partly and allowing him to clear the remaining dues in instalments.

But the administration is not paying attention to them as they are yet to get a response on the proposal placed before the authority.

Considering the above issues, members of Gautam Budh Nagar parents’ association on Sunday gathered at Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Sector 56, Noida to decide the course of action against private school administrations.

While revealing details of the meeting, Manoj Katiyar, founder of Gautam Budh Nagar parents’ welfare society said that there are parents who have already made complaints against schools with the district school fee regulatory committee for collecting excessive fees from them.

He said, “Parents have now decided to escalate the issue before appellate authority in Meerut to get respite. Before moving to the authority, parents would lodge a complaint with the commission for child protection.”
