Noida: Residents criticise authority for inaction over filthy drains

Noida: A day after the Noida Industrial Development Authority installed screens, made of bamboo, on main drains passing through the residential sector to filter out the non-degradable materials flowing with dirty water, many residents criticised the initiative on Tuesday.

Harendra Mishra, a resident went ahead saying that clean Noida and healthy Noida is just a slogan. It is not effective as residents can observe. He said, “Look at the dirty drain passing through Sector 62. Residents of the sector have been inhaling poisonous air from past 17 to 18 years.”

Another resident, PR Chandna complained that the dirty drains have been passing along boundaries of almost 10 societies in Sector 62. They are having no option but to face the situation as there has been no action from the authority.

He said that the horrible smell has been coming out from the dirty drain and the residents have been breathing it. Children and elderly people have been falling ill. It is also causing viral fever like dengue and malaria besides causing air pollution.
