Four-company consortium chosen to design Jewar airport

Noida: Swiss Developer Zurich Airport International has chosen a consortium of Nordic, Grimshaw, Haptic and STUP as architects to prepare a design for passenger airport in Jewar near Noida. It will be second international airport in the NCR after Delhi’s IGI airport.

The Jewar airport is expected to be operational by April 2023 for commercial flight operations.

The consortinum was chosen after a three phases design competition which was held in June, July and August this year. 

As per an official, the winning entry has taken inspiration from the designs of Hyderabad, Oslo, Istanbul and Zurich airport. 

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Zurich Airport International and has been incorporated to develop the Jewar airport.

The Uttar Pradesh government had signed the concession agreement with YIAPL to develop Jewar airport at an estimated cost of Rs 29,560 crore.
