New Delhi: The National Capital Region (NCR) is going to have a second airport at Jewar in Greater Noida and it will be officially known as Noida International Airport.

The new airport will have a logo depicting a flying sarus crane which is Uttar Pradesh’s state bird. The bird has one of its richest habitats in the wetlands around Noida.

The name and the logo was finalised after a meeting of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with the senior executives of Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the subsidiary of concessionaire Zurich AG and officials of the civil aviation department.

In September, officials of YIAPL and NIAL had started discussions on design and logo of the airport. The designing of the logo started after the signing of the concession agreement. A creative team was constituted to design the logo keeping in mind the sarus crane. The overall concept of the bird shows a plane taking off.

As per a senior official, the name Noida International Airport will now be updated in the concession agreement and all the documents.

The CM said that development will strengthen the economic development of the state. He said that it will boost industrial development, help in creation of jobs, promotion of exports and streamlining the air traffic.
