Noida: Aiming to maintain cleanliness in their residential pockets, residents of highrises in Sector 137, Noida on Saturday morning came out of their homes for carrying out plogging drive. They picked up waste like plastic carry bags, papers and thermocol sheets, lying on roadsides and in the parks.

The drive was carried out in association with Noida Industrial Development Authority, the nodal agency that is aiming to improve the ranking of the city in survey of Clean India Mission program.

“As it was planned, the drive began on December 12 and five teams consisting of volunteers from highrises in the sector cleaned the areas successfully,” Abhist Gupta, an active volunteer said.

He further said, “Volunteers 137 led by Savita Gupta, Ina Arora, Ruchi Kanga, Gulshan Khandelwal, Samanwaya Rautrey and Renub Oberoi; and Rajiv Tyagi, senior officer with Noida Authority cleaned the entire sector. Members from society management of Paras Tierra, Paramount Floraville, Ajnara Daffodil and Gulshan Vivante also participated in the drive.”

Gupta said that they went on cleaning different patches of roadsides, parks and footpaths besides residential societies. They picked up waste from areas between, Felix to Logix, metro station to Paramount society, Paramount to Advant and Exotica society to metro station in the sector.

He said, “I would like to thank all the volunteers and officials because without their active participation, it would not have been possible to conduct the drive successfully.”
