Dwarka: Cycle rickshaws and battery rickshaws have become a major cause of nuisance in Dwarka. Rickshaw pullers wait for passengers at the entrance of the major markets creating chaos and traffic jams on the main road.
In the evening and on the weekends, commuters always face tough times on the roads in front of the markets of the sub-city. Be it the market of Sector 6/10 or the markets around Aashirvad Chowk, rickshaws create a lot of chaos.
A resident of Sector 4, Arun Das says, “Rickshaws are parked at the entrance of the market and the approach road of the societies near markets. They create so much chaos that you cannot even walk freely on the road. Parking of vehicles on the road and cycle and battery rickshaws make the whole stretch in front of the markets like Sector 4 and Sector 12 full of chaos.”
In front of the Central Market in Sector 6, the situation is more serious. From the signal of Sector 6/10 till the end of Sector 6 market, cycle rickshaws take the wrong side to follow the road and avoid the signals.
A resident of Sector 6, Manish Sethi says, “Without rickshaws, the travel is impossible for common people in the sub-city. But there must be some regulation and proper stands for them. In front of the market areas, rickshaw pullers often park on the main road after the rows of vehicles and they also rush for passengers. They always follow the wrong lane and wrong side. They should be provided a proper stand near the market areas like 6/10 and at Aashirvad Chowk.”
