Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor dies of cardiac arrest

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 58 years old. Kapoor belonged to the illustrious Kapoor family of Bollywood.

He grew up in a family of notable film personalities. He was the third son of one of finest actors and filmmakers Raj Kapoor and younger brother of actors Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

Incidentally, Rajiv Kapoor's elder brother Rishi Kapoor died of cancer last year.

Rajiv had worked in many films during the early 80s. He made his debut with Ek Jaan Hain Hum in 1983. His other films were Aasmaan (1984), Lover Boy (1985) and Zabardast (1985). However, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, released in 1985, won him national accolades for his performance. The film was directed by his father Raj Kapoor.

Rajiv was a man who wore many hats. Apart from acting, he was a producer and a director as well. Kapoor had produced Henna in 1991 starring his late brother Rishi Kapoor and Aa Ab Laut Chalen in 1999. He had directed Prem Granth.

The late actor was set to make a Bollywood comeback after nearly three decades in a sports drama titled Toolsidas Junior, co-starring Sanjay Dutt.
