After parents' protest, city school agrees to give discount on fees

New Delhi: On June 14, parents of the students of Ursuline Convent School, Greater Noida protested against the increase in fees. The parents alleged that the school management has increased the fees during the corona pandemic.

It’s been a year since the pandemic and it has caused a major setback to the education sector, schools started online classes on Zoom. We hoped for things to get better this year, however, another corona wave hit all of us.

Amid all this, it was tough for many people to make ends meet. The fee hike at school came as a shock to the parents. They decided to protest against it.

However, as per parents, the school has agreed to give a 10 per cent discount on fees from next month. CitySpidey talked to parents who shared the details but at the same time they didn't wish to be named.

Sukhpal Singh Toor, General Secretary, Gautam Budh Nagar Parents Welfare Society said, “According to the Uttar Pradesh government, schools will not take lab chargers, library charges, sports charges, and other co-curricular activities charges.”

He added, “Our concern from the school is simple. They should segregate tuition fees and other charges. The 10 per cent discount is not sufficient, we demand a maximum of 50 per cent discount. Last year, they also took full fees from the parents.”
