New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places in Delhi on Tuesday.

The IMD tweeted, “Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi (Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Patel Nagar, Red fort, ITO, President House, India Gate, Delhi Cantt, Lodi Road, Safdarjung, R K Puram.”

According to the IMD, light to moderate intensity rain is also expected in NCR areas like Faridabad and Ballabhgarh. Moreover, the forecast of light to moderate intensity rain is also expected in isolated places of North Delhi, South-East Delhi (Bawana, Rohini, Kalkaji), NCR (Faridabad, Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida and Greater Noida).

On Monday, Delhi-NCR received heavy rainfall causing inundation in many areas. Commuters faced difficulties traversing through the water-logged
roads. Many parts of Gurugram were also submerged in water. 

Heavy rains brought much needed respite from hot and humid conditions which persisted for a long time. After missing several forecasts by the IMD, monsoons finally arrived in Delhi on July 13.

As per the IMD, Delhi received an average of 69.6 mm of rainfall till 8:30 am on Monday. According to the readings by PTI, the rainfall recorded at various observatories were -- Safdarjung (69.6 mm); Palam (99.3 mm); Lodhi Road (62 mm); Ayanagar (51.6 mm); Ridge (58 mm).

As per Skymet Weather, light to moderate rain with a few intense spells may occur in Delhi on Wednesday. There was a rain deficit of 43 per cent till July 18 in Delhi. As per experts, Delhi will get sufficient rain till the end of July.
