Dwarka: The sight of garbage bins kept outside of societies has become common nowadays in Dwarka. According to residents, they have their own concerns regarding the dustbins kept outside the societies.

Navneet Gupta, a resident of Sector 19 said, “Placing these bins on the road is a big safety issue for pedestrians. In our society, we had made a separate covered area for placing bins and now these bins are heavy and not easy to move, it’s not possible to put them in designated areas.”

KK Verma, President of Seema Apartments CGHS, Sector 11 said, “Garbage collectors don’t enter the society to collect the garbage. Every day our sweepers have to pull the garbage bins outside. It is very difficult to pull these dustbins and also the process wheels are damaged.”

He further added, “In my opinion, each society should be provided with easy-to-pull garbage bins or the trucks should come inside the society to collect the garbage.”

Kuldeep Yadav, an official from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) said, “We suggest all the societies keep the bins inside their premises. This is because if the bins are kept outside, stray animals could eat the garbage or spill it further. To avoid this, it is advised to not keep the bins on roads.”
