Noida: A man with many talents – an IAS officer, a former cricketer and a para champion in badminton, this is a small description of Suhas Lalinkere Yathiraj.

Suhas LY, District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has been selected for Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Earlier, Suhas LY was a winner at the Para Badminton Asian Championship held in Beijing, China. He is currently ranked world number 3 in Men’s Singles.

It’s the first time badminton has been introduced in the Paralympic games. A seven-member team from India will be participating in it. In a conversation with Navbharat Times, Suhas told that as soon as he won in Para Badminton Asian Championship in China, he started preparing for Paralympics and now that he is finally going, he is very happy.

Suhas, who hails from Karnataka, also used to play cricket. After he became an IAS officer, he started playing badminton and excelled in the game. He has earned several accolades to his name since then.

After he won in Asian Championship in China, then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav bestowed him with the Yash Bharati Award, the highest civilian award of Uttar Pradesh.
