Dwarka: Many trees were uprooted due to heavy rain on Wednesday morning in Sector 9, Dwarka. The authority is yet to clear the broken branches and tree trunks fallen over on the road.
The whole road is covered with tree trunks and branches on the backside of the Sector 9 metro station, near the police station staff quarters. The authorities are doing nothing to clear the road and remove the uprooted trees from there.
Suhail Saify, a commuter said, “Commuters can get hit with falling branches. It's dangerous and prone to accidents as well and dark lanes add more danger to it.”
Lavish Singh, a resident of Sector 9, said, “Trees tend to incline on the side where roots have been allowed more space. And that side and the canopy often face the main road. This can prove fatal for commuters.”

Vanshika Hooda, another commuter said, “This is risky for commuters, and the whole road is covered with branches of trees.”
Yatin Sharma, a resident of Sector 9 explained, “Most of the trees have weak roots, and can fall any time, particularly during the rains when the soil becomes soft. I don’t understand why the DDA has not allowed enough space at the base of the trunk for the roots to breathe. These trees become weak and eventually fall.”
When CitySpidey contacted Amit Singh, Assistant Director of Horticulture, DDA, he assured that the uprooted trees will be removed soon.
