MLA recommends transfer of park maintenance to RWAs in a letter

Gurugram: MLA Sudhir Singla has written a letter to the commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and recommended the maintenance of the park and community to be given back to the RWAs. This comes after the various RWAs representatives of the city recently held a meeting with the MLA urging him to intervene on the matter.

In a letter to the MCG chief, he said, “The RWAs which are working effectively, should be given the responsibility of maintenance of community centers and parks.”

Recently, the group office bearers of various RWA in the city met Singla and claimed that they did not get any information about any civic work being done in their areas. They further alleged that the role of the respective RWAs are being diminished by the councilors, despite being a registered body, elected by the residents of the area. They asserted that they have been functioning as per society’s act.

They pointed out that the concerns of the RWAs are not being addressed by the authorities even after repeated pleas. They claimed that they are the stakeholder and should be involved in the development work being carried out in the area.
