Dwarka's Dhananjay Raman secures 2nd position in JEE rankings

Dwarka: Amidst many achievements one after the other, a new badge has been added to the account of Dhananjay Raman, a resident of Mahalaxmi Apartments in Sector-2, Dwarka. Dhananjay has once again made his parents and teachers proud by securing the second position in All India Ranking in JEE Advanced exam.

While talking to CitySpidey, Dhananjay Raman said, “My goal was always to get good results in JEE Advanced exam and get admission in Computer Science subject in IIT Mumbai. As far as ranking is concerned, I don't care much because I never focused on whether the rank is good or bad. But yes, my parents and teachers are very happy with what I have achieved.”

Engaged in the preparation of advance examination from the seventh class itself, he said, “It's an amazing feeling because since class VII, I have been working hard for this exam and now my penance has been completed. I started going to the FIITJEE coaching center in class VII itself.”

He further added, “There were online classes during the lockdown but I used to study only till the time of online class as I didn't feel like studying for the rest of the time. In fact, it was always my endeavour to complete my studies in the coaching center itself. Coaching centers were closed  during the lockdown so I did not feel like studying inside the four walls of the house.”

“Although my parents always motivated me to study. After retirement, my parents have been concentrating on my studies. After some relief in the lockdown, with the help of teachers, I made arrangements to go to the coaching center and study half past morning and used to study from six to seven in the evening,” he said.

Talking about his aspirations now, Dhananjay said, “Keeping in mind our inclination towards technology day-by-day, I have decided to do my engineering in Computer Science.” Dhananjay is inspired by Srinivasa Ramanujan.

A huge fan of the American television sitcom Big Bang Theory, Dhananjay considers himself very similar to Sheldon Cooper, but with more emotions.

In 2019, Dhananjay, a student of Bal Bharati School, won the gold medal in the 24th International Astronomy Olympiad held in Romania. Prior to this, Dhananjay has also won a gold medal in Junior Science Talent Search Examination 2017 and International Chemistry Olympiad in class XII.

Dhananjay also shared that to stay physically fit, he meditates every night and walks half the way to the coaching center. As far as being active on social media is concerned, Dhananjay told us he is definitely associated with social media but limits his use.

On advising the other aspirants to achieve this success mantra, Raman further says, “Aspirants should practice solving papers regularly on a strict time schedule and keep revising all chapters. They should stay motivated for the exam, keep a schedule for studying and keep in touch with teachers and ask them for advice and strategies.”

CitySpidey talked to the proud parents R Raman and Lalitha Raman. They said that they have always been motivating Dhananjay to work hard and perform to his full potential. “We realised his amazing intellect and grasping power very early. We are very proud of him. We express our heartfelt gratitude to his school teachers and also his mentors at FIITJEE Dwarka for grooming him towards such incredible achievement,” said his father.

Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Head of FIITJEE Dwarka Center, said, “It is a proud moment for us. The excitement level cannot be defined. Dhananjay Raman winning the Gold Medal at such a prestigious competition at an International platform has not only proved his potential but has also given us the acclamation we strive for. We at FIITJEE, always encourage our students to explore their calibre in-depth and help them bring out their intellectual acumen. Being among the top positions is also an indication to the rest of the world that the brain of future Astronomy lays in India.”
