Noida: Sector 51 underpass cut creates traffic jams for commuters

Noida: The Sector 71 underpass is now open for commuters. The underpass is likely to ease the traffic flow from Wave City Centre metro station to Greater Noida  West. However, after the opening of this underpass, the authority closed the cut towards Sector 51. The residents of the C, D, and F blocks are facing issues.

Sanjeev Kumar, General Secretary, RWA sector 51 wrote a  letter to the Noida Authority regarding this issue. Kumar shared that the Sector 71 underpass has been opened by the Noida Authority and the Noida Traffic Department in a hurry and without providing any alternative to the residents of Blocks D, E and F of Sector 51. The authority has not made any arrangement for the residents of Sector 51 to reach their homes. The cut leading to Sector 51 has been closed with barricading, without any advisory or alternate arrangements.

In a talk with CitySpidey Kumar said, “The authority and the traffic department should have made arrangements for a U-cut from 71 intersections to enable the residents of Sector 51 to reach their home without any problem and traffic congestion before closing this cut. Now we have to move towards sector 61 Sai mandir. Then take a U-turn and again take a U-turn from sector 51 metro station."

He added, “A lot of commuters are facing problems. There is a girl school which acts as an examination centre every weekend. Students coming for the exam will face a lot of problems while commuting. The Authorities must make a U-turn over the underpass as soon as possible.”

He concluded by saying, “RWA Sector 51 requests the Noida Authority and the government of Uttar Pradesh to kindly provide a way to the residents to reach their  homes first and then open the underpass only after the construction work is completed.”
