Noida: The 7X Welfare team, in association with Gautam Budh Nagar traffic police organized a road safety awareness drive in Hajipur T-Point in Sector 104 on Sunday. During the drive, they took an oath ‘Road Safety=Survival.' Moreover, people were made aware of the importance of helmets and seatbelts at the traffic signal.
Brajesh Sharma, a member of the 7X Welfare team, said, “More than 30% of the deaths on the road are due to non-use of helmets or non-ISI helmets, which is about 44,666. On the other hand, if we look at the statistics of deaths due to not wearing seat belts in the car, then it is about 14%, which is 20,885. In Uttar Pradesh, in 2019, 6549 deaths occurred due to non-availability of helmets and 4776 due to nonuse of seat belts.”
“There are high-rise buildings around this intersection. Many people cross the road every minute. There is no zebra crossing to cross at this intersection. The authority needs to take cognizance of it and work on it”, said Sharma.
Sharma concluded by saying that it is not just the responsibility of the Traffic Police but also the duty of citizens to ensure road safety. The rush of people to reach home, the hope of getting out of a jam, and constant hurry are becoming frequent causes of accidents. If we don’t take the matter seriously, the number of accident cases will only increase.
