Dwarka: The four-day-long festivals of Chhath puja culminated in a major festival on Wenesday evening and Thursday morning. Devotees from across Delhi woke up early in the morning and started the preparations for Chhath. They offered Arghya to seek blessings from the Sun God.
Dwarka citizens participated in one of the largest celebrations of the puja held at various sectors. Dwarka Social Religious and Cultural Association, and Dada Dev Mela Ground by Palam Chhath Puja Committee in sector 8. At Dabri mor, Bharat Vihar, Kakrola etc and other places, Chhath parv was celebrated. Devotees were seen chanting religious songs during the celebration.
Various societies celebrated the Chhath parv with zeal and happiness. Those who did not go to ghats celebrated in intimate ceremonies on society terraces.
Sushil Kumar, President of Dwarka Forum, said, “This festival is a matter of belief and celebrated with lots of enthusiasm mainly in Bihar and East UP. However these days it can be seen in almost all parts of India. The festival shows the environment is important. We worship son, rivers, trees which reiterate civilization has to move forward protecting these natural resources. ”
