Keep the Dandruff away: Try these 5 DIY hair masks

Dandruff is a problem that becomes more common in the winter. The winter air is short of moisture which makes the skin and hair dry. When your scalp gets dry, a powdery material forms on your head that is nothing but dandruff.
It can cause itching, irritation, and some degree of humiliation! Here are five easy DIY hair treatments to keep dandruff in Winters at bay:

Coconut oil and neem

Coconut oil, a hair care essential, can be used to combat dandruff during winters. It is a natural moisturiser with antibacterial characteristics that will leave your hair looking healthy and lustrous. Neem, on the other hand, has anti-fungal properties that can help in avoiding dandruff. Neem keeps your scalp's pH balanced, which aids in the prevention of dandruff. This mixture can be made using either neem oil or neem powder. For best results, combine equal parts neem oil and pure coconut oil and reheat it gently. Gently rub the oil into your hair and scalp. Use a gentle shampoo to rinse. Another technique to use coconut oil with neem is to create a smooth paste of neem powder and coconut oil. Apply it properly to your hair. After 15 minutes, wash it with a gentle cleanser.

Yoghurt has always been used to treat dandruff and greasy, itchy scalps. It is beneficial for oily skin since it absorbs excess oil without drying the skin. Furthermore, it contains natural enzymes that not only heal dandruff but also minimise hair fall and strengthen your hair. You may use yoghurt directly on your hair or combine it with lemon juice for additional advantages. Gently massage plain yoghurt (at room temperature) into your scalp and let it on for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then use a gentle shampoo.

Tea tree oil and olive oil

Tea tree oil has antifungal qualities that are second to none, while olive oil is incredibly moisturising for the scalp. These two substances can help to prevent dandruff by preventing diseases and dehydration. As a result, use it sparingly. A few drops go a long way towards protecting your scalp. 5 drops of tea tree essential oil to 3 to 4 spoonfuls of olive oil. You can modify the amount according to the length of your hair. For at least 20 minutes, massage this into your scalp. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with a gentle shampoo.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is indeed soothing, but it also detoxifies the skin and contains antioxidants and antimicrobial characteristics. It is ideal to extract some gel directly from the aloe vera plant since it is translucent and has a gummy texture. It can be applied to the skin and rinsed away with a pharmaceutical anti-dandruff shampoo or a gentle cleanser.

Lemon and honey

To get rid of dandruff, make a honey and lemon juice anti-dandruff hair mask. Limes have powerful cleaning effects, and honey is an emollient, making this mask an excellent dandruff treatment. Lime juice cleanses the scalp of sebum, dust, and flakiness, while honey keeps it moist and healthy. Honey also contains antibiotic qualities that help to combat scalp fungus and inflammation.

Just take three to four teaspoons of pure honey in a container, adjusting the amount as per the ends of the hair. Combine it with the mixture of lemon and whisk thoroughly. Apply this mask to your head and gently rub it in for a few minutes. Allow it to sit for another 15 minutes before washing with an anti-dandruff shampoo.
