Noida: A health screening was held on Saturday 11th December 2021 at Gaur Sportswood Society, Sector 79. Earlier, in November, nearly 8-10 residents got diagnosed with Hepatitis-A. The health camp started at 11:00 am and continued till 4 pm. 35 residents availed the facilities at the camp. The camp was organised by Health department, Gautam Buddha Nagar in association with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences(ILBS) Delhi.

During the camp, all the residents who were diagnosed with Hepatitis A were called for testing along with their family members. The team will take the samples today and probably get the result by December 14. As gathered by Dr Nirupama Trehanpati, Professor in Molecular and cellular medicine, ILBS, Delhi, a part of the health camp said 20-25 patients were reported with mild to severe symptoms from November 28th. 15 patients among these who had severe symptoms have gone to the private practitioners and are seeking necessary help.

Talking about the possible reasons for several residents getting diagnosed with Hepatitis-A, she said that initially, the team of doctors thought the reason could be contamination of Ganga water in the underground and tanks. Upon further investigation, they found out that the society had organized a Diwali party with outside catering. So the suspect can be underground water and caterers also.

Ajay Chopra, a resident of the society whose daughter was recently diagnosed with Jaundice says, “The camp experience is good. They are a professional team. They are doing plenty of tests of Hepatitis diagnosed residents including others also. Now we are waiting for the results to see how thoroughly this investigation has been conducted.
