Noida: DND road needs urgent repair

Noida: The commuters traveling on the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway are having a tough time. Once known for its smooth road surface and as a  pleasant drive, traveling on it is no longer the same. The reason is the poor condition of the road surface and defunct streetlights.

Anjali Sachdeva, General Secretary of RWA, Sector 52, said, “Earlier the entire DND stretch was well maintained but now the condition is very poor.”

Pushkar Raj Chandna, a retired engineer, resident of Lotus  Panache, Sector 110, Noida, says, “I couldn’t understand that why between Delhi and Noida Authority, the DND road is being ignored for repairing. The road needs urgent repair. I tweeted about it to both the state heads and authorities. Noida Authority's engineer said that all the revenue being generated through advertisement was being taken by Delhi Government and therefore they should repair it.

Now a positive response has come on a complaint filed by Pushkar Raj Chandna to the NCT of Delhi. According to the reply received on November 27 to complaint number  ID 275870 made by Chandna, the work of the repair of the approach road to the DND flyway from Delhi side has been assigned to East Road Division of PWD.

Brajesh Sharma, a resident of Antriksh Golf View, Sector 78, who commutes daily through this road, says, “ It is a matter of shame where things have come to such a pass that both Delhi and UP governments are not paying any attention to such an important road of Delhi NCR. From the last two to three years street lights are not working, roads are in bad condition, shape, reflectors, signboards are missing. I have raised this issue multiple times but no action has been taken.”

The opening of the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway was a great facility for the commuters of Delhi and Noida.  DND Flyway, managed by the Noida  Toll Bridge Company,  connects Delhi and Noida. It was built to handle the growing traffic to and from the trans-Yamuna area. The  Flyway, on the  Noida side, opens on the road to the business hub of sector 18 via  Noida Film City. Driving down on DND towards Delhi will land you on  Ring Road taking you to South Delhi and further to ISBT.
