GreNo Authority: On-spot challan to those found dumping garbage

The Greater Noida Authority has recently planned to impose On-Spot fines on those found dumping garbage improperly in the city. To make this possible, Greater Noida Authority in collaboration with HDFC bank has prepared a Point of Sale machine, a hardware system for processing card payments at retail locations. The trials for the same have already begun. Further, data related to fines will also be updated on the Authority website.

Along with the awareness campaigns to make Greater Noida clean, the Authority is taking continuous measures by imposing fines on those who are dumping garbage improperly. So far, the team of the Authority has been imposing manual fines during the inspection.

However, with the help of the POS machine, an on-the-spot challan will be deducted and the amount will be deposited immediately. This will eliminate the hassle of generating manual challans and updating records. A receipt will also be available on the spot from this handheld machine.

Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 are in force in Greater Noida. According to which all bulk waste generators have to manage the waste  on their own. The Authority will only pick up the inert waste, waste  that does not undergo any significant physical, chemical or biological  transformations. For this the Greater Noida Authority also charges a fixed nominal fee.

On January 5, 2022, DGM Salil Yadav, in charge of the public health department, manager Vaibhav Nagar, the team of E&Y the advisory body of the authority, also gave a presentation in front of Narendra Bhushan, CEO, Greater Noida Authority.

Bhushan has further said that if the trial of POS machine is successful then the system of on spot challans will be implemented soon.
