DDMA lifts Weekend Curfew, Restaurants to now operate at 50% capacity

Amidst a drop in daily Covid cases in the capital, the DDMA in a meeting held January 27, 2022, with lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal and Delhi CM has decided to lift the weekend curfew.

Delhiites can now freely enjoy weekends as the weekend curfew has finally been lifted. However, night curfew starting from 10 pm to 5 am will remain in force. Schools and colleges will remain shut for now.

Apart from the above mentioned, following are the important decisions taken at the meeting-

  • Restaurants and cinema halls can now open at 50 % capacity
  • The odd even rule has been dissolved for markets.
  • The number of members who can attend a wedding has been increased from 20 to 200.
  • Government offices can now open with 50% capacity.
  • Private offices are advised to stagger office timing, presence and quantum of staff.

According to city health minister Satyendra Jain, the capital is likely to report less than 5000 Covid cases today and the positivity rate is likely to fall below 10%. With 7,498 cases reported on January 26, 2022, the current positivity rate stands at 10.5 per cent according to the Delhi state health department.
