GreNo- Committee to examine structural safety in high rise buildings

Greater Noida: Greater Noida Authority has formed a dedicated committee to conduct detailed studies on structural safety in existing and new high-rise societies in Greater Noida.

The decision has been taken by the Authority keeping in view the recent incident at Chintels Paradiso society in Gurugram sector 109 where a portion of the building collapsed. Two women were killed in the incident.

The committee will examine how the structural safety of highrise buildings can be further improved with the help of experts from IITs to strengthen the structure of high rise housing societies in Greater Noida.

In view of the safety of the families living in the high-rise societies constructed by the builders, the Greater Noida Authority CEO Narendra Bhushan held a meeting on the issue of examining the structural design on February 19, 2022. The CEO reviewed the safety standards set by the authority. Officers like ACEO Amandeep Duli, GM Planning Meena Bhargava, OSD builder Santosh Kumar, GM RK Dev, DGM KR Verma were present in this meeting.

In the next 15 days, the committee will also prepare a standard draft to further strengthen the security of these high-rise buildings. That draft will be placed before the upcoming board meeting of the Greater Noida Authority. After getting approval from the board, it will be implemented in the societies, after which the builders will have to give full details of the structural safety of highrise buildings in the same format, only then will they be issued a completion or occupancy certificate.

Moreover, structural safety certificates issued by the committee will be uploaded to the Authority website.

Narendra Bhushan, CEO, Greater Noida Authority, says, “the structural safety certificate should also be uploaded on the website of the Greater Noida Authority so that investors can see the details whenever they want.” The CEO also instructed builders to keep the structural safety certificate copy so that home buyer can review it.
