The Children's park and open gym are in bad shape these days in the central park of Sector 3 pocket 16, Adarsh Apartments, Dwarka. Swings, slides, fancy lights and open-air gym equipment are damaged. While visiting the park, it was seen that the plastic slide was damaged in such a way that it could injure a child severely. Similarly, the swings at the park were also broken.

The residents and RWA informed CitySpidey that children have been injured because of the damaged slides, swings, and open gum equipment.

Yashwant Gusain, a resident of the pocket said, “Recently a kid was using the swing and the swing fell. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences. Despite this incident, the swing is still damaged and still planted at the same place. The plastic slide is damaged in two places. Any kid can get seriously injured as the broken part of the slide is sharp. This must be urgently replaced."

Apart from children's swings, some of the machines of the open-air gym were also found damaged posing danger to anyone who dared to use these pieces of equipment.

General secretary of RWA, Devesh Mundepi said, "The surface of the gym was never made by the authority and we spent funds in putting up interlocking cushions on the gym surface. We need attention from the authority regarding such things.”

Moreover, Some of the fancy light poles in the parks do not have lights. As per the RWA of the society, those lights have been missing for a long period.

“The fancy light poles have been installed but the lights on them have been missing for more than five years. This has resulted in sheer wastage of money. It should have been made functional. One can see the damaged equipment for kids like slides and swings. The open-air gym is also in a pathetic state. We have reached out to the maintenance but they are not listening to us." said Devesh.

Devesh further shared that the RWA has continuously tried to contact the number mentioned on the board in the park (put by SDMC at the time of installation) regarding the gym equipment maintenance and repair. However, to no positive result.

As informed by the RWA of the society such issues have already been raised in front of the area Councillor and the corporation officials as well. "We have raised the issue in front of the area Councillor and the corporation officials several times but no action has been taken yet. We request the corporation again to look into the matter.”

On the subject, area Councillor Nitika Sharma said that the Authority has taken the matter to concern and will do the needful soon.
