Parents protest against fee hike in front of DPS Dwarka

On March 24, 2022, more than a hundred parents of children studying in Delhi Public School, Sector 3, Dwarka staged a protest against a fee hike in front of the school. Parents have rejected the fees hike and asking for legal orders that can justify the fee hike.

During the lockdown, parents in Delhi were purportedly being harassed by schools over expenses. Many schools increase their tuition fee every new academic year. Delhi public schools (DPS) are among those schools and parents are facing lots of problems because of this.

Parents allege that they had paid the fees for the entire session 2021-22. Now, the school is asking them to pay the balance amount as they have revised the fees.

Anjali Sharma, a parent who was present at the protest says, "The issue is not about fees hike, it is about the future of 700 plus students. The schools didn't even declare the results and did not promote our children to the next class. We had decided to pay as per the Directorate of Education(DOE) orders. Accordingly, we paid the fees for the entire year 2021-22. And now they are not promoting our kids and declaring the results stating that we didn't pay the fees according to their fees portal."

As gathered, parents are trying to contact the management of the school and also the education department. Thye have also written a letter to the Education Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia regarding the same issue.

Shivani Kashyap a parent says, "This is not the first time we are protesting. This is the fourth or fifth time that we are protesting regarding the issue. We tried talking to the principal of the school but she is not answering our calls and has denied talking to anyone."

CitySpidey tried to get in touch with the school management, they didn't respond.
