SRSG Noida: Guards go on strike, residents feel unsafe

Greater Noida: The guards of Shri Radha Sky Garden, a group housing society in  Greater Noida West are on strike since 25 March 2022, which is troubling the residents of the society. Moreover, as per the information gathered, the sanitation workers and garbage collectors will be on strike from April 2, 2022. The reason for the strike, as per residents, is that the builder is not paying salaries to the guards and sanitation workers for the last three months.

According to the residents, due to negligence from the builder and the entire maintenance staff, the guards closed the gates of the society for about 4 to 5 hours on the night of March 31, 2022. The residents called the Cherry County police station to open the gates of the society.

Moreover, the guards have deserted their posts on the morning of March 31, making residents feel unsafe. The residents had called the police to secure the premises as the open gates of the society without any security guards made the residents feel vulnerable. The society has 19 towers and about 1900 flats and more than 900 families are affected due to this issue.

Gaurav Patel, a resident of the society says, “The security of over 1000 families has been jeopardized by the builder and the security agency. Residents are not getting something as basic as safety. Last night, residents were not able to commute outside. Last month, the builder collected 2 crores of money from the society in the name of maintenance charges but has not paid the staff yet.”

Another resident, Vikas Singh says, “From the last 4 years, we are struggling to get the basic amenities in the society. From the last seven days, the  guards were on strike and closed the entry gates of the society. Last night, residents faced a lot of issues while commuting. We also filed a written complaint in the police station.”

Abhay Kumar, a resident of the society says, “We have been paying maintenance charges regularly. For the last eight days, we are feeling like a hostage not like a resident. We do not have any complaints from the guards but the builder, as he is responsible for all this chaos. They are also fighting for their rights.”
