Greater Noida:  The residents of group Housing high-rise societies, Greater Noida West, are facing the issue of unscheduled power cuts and erratic power supply. As per residents, NPCL (Noida Power Company limited) is unable to supply the allotted amount of electricity.

The residents of the societies of Greater Noida West are continously facing this issue of frequent power cuts, which is adversely affecting their home appliances. On this matter, Vikas Katiyar, a resident of Spring Meadows and Vice Presidents NEFOWA shared a tweet, “ग्रेटर नोएडा वेस्ट में @NPCL_GrNoida बिजली की आपूर्ति नही कर पा रहा है और मल्टीप्वाइंट के लिए मांगी जा रही बड़ी रकम। एक बार पहले मीटर चार्ज बिल्डर को दे चुके अब देने में है असमर्थ #NPCL को मीटर तक बिजली पहुंचाने की जिम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए और साथ ही फिक्स चार्ज कम।.”

Every summer Greater Noida West battles with the lack of electricity issue in the area. As per NPCL, in 2021 the electricity consumption of Greater Noida West was 110 megawatts, which is projected to increase to 130 megawatts this year.
After July's 2021 protest, by the residents of Greater Noida West, NPCL had agreed to give 100 megawatts of electricity from the Parthala sub-station for the area. As per NPCL, the work to install underground wires which would bring power from the Parthala sub-station to the area has been done.

According to the residents of Greater Noida West NPCL was unable to supply 50 percent of electricity. And to full fill their needs, residents are paying extra charges for Diesel generators in their societies.

Vikas Katiyar, a resident of Spring Meadows says, “All the residents of Spring Meadows are fed-up with the constant fluctuation of electricity. Our household appliances are getting damaged and with all these problems the charge of expensive power generator is a big burden on our pockets. We are not getting any help related to this issue and the problem starts increasing again as summer is upon us."

He adds, “NPCL should take responsibility for the maintenance of electrical equipment inside the society. Fixed charges should be reduced. The meter charges should not be levied on the flat because we already paid the meter charges once to the builder. There should be quick action at the time of power interruption and electricity tripping should be curbed. NPCL needs to pay attention to the multi-point power connection issue."

Rahul Garg, a resident of Hawelia Valencia Homes, Sector 1 says, “Very disappointing and unprofessional behavior by NPCL. They are letting their organisation's reputation soiled by not fulfilling their own commitments. The residents of Greater Noida West are paying rupees 7.70 per unit. in addition we have to pay 30 rupees per unit for diesel generators. So how will residents survive in these conditions? The vice president of NPCL is added to us in a WhatsApp group. According to him, tripping electricity is only a one-day problem. How can he say that, are we mad? We are facing a 'tripping of electricity' issue for the last 15 days.”

He adds, “As per NPCl the requirement of Greater Noida West is about 130-kilo megawatt. However, they are able to supply only 60 megawatts, and to reach 130 they buy electricity from other sources. So this is not our problem. Our home appliances were affected due to the fluctuations and many of us are still working from home.”
