Traditional folk music is often the unheard gem among all music. They include the rawness and ingenuity of their regions and the liveliness of self-designed instruments. There is a deep message in many of these songs. The International Folk Music Awards 2022 will be held on May 18 in Kansas City, Missouri and it is the 34th annual folk alliance international conference.
The awards are divided into different categories: artist of the year, song of the year, and album of the year. Here is a list of all nominees-
Song of the Year Nominees: "Changemakers" by Crys Matthes, "Painted Blue" by Sarah Jarosz, "We Believe you" by Diana Jones, "Call Me a Fool" by Valerie June and " On Solid Ground" by Reggie Harris.
Album of the Year Nominees: The Fray by John smith, Outside Child by Allison Russell, Wary+ Strange by Amythyst Kiah, Un Canto por México, Vol. 2 by Natalia Lafourcade, They're Calling me home By Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi.

Artist of the year nominees: John Francis Flynn, The Longest Johns, Kalani Pe'a, Allison Russell and Arooj Aftab.
John Francis Flynn- John Francis Flynn is a folk artist from Ireland, he is a singer, guitarist, and flutist and his famous album is "I would not live always". He is also a member of the celebrated traditional group "skipper's".
The Longest Johns- It is the name of the British folk musical group. They are from Bristol, United Kingdom. The name of the members is Jonathan Darley, Anna Cornish, Dave Robinson, Andy Yates, and Robbie Sattin. They are known for their traditional folk performance and Sea Shanties.
Kalani Pe'a- He is a Hawaiian singer and songwriter. He released his first album in 2016 and won the grammy award in 2017.
Allison Russell- Allison Russell is a Canadian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and poet. She performed in several music groups but in 2021 she released her first solo album "outside Child".
Arooj Aftab- Arooj Aftab is a music composer, producer and Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist. She is the first-ever Grammy Award-winning Pakistani artist.
