Visit these popular filming locations to live your K-Drama dreams

We've spent most of our lockdown watching Korean dramas to pass the time, but this has fueled our desire to travel to Korea and tour the filming locations featured in numerous Korean dramas. If you happen to be in Korea, we've put together a list of famous locations where K dramas have been shot for you to visit-

Yonsei University (Sinchon Campus), Seoul

Featured in Snowdrop, True Beauty, and Snowdrop Modern Girl, Men Are Men, a KBS Drama Special Extraordinary You, Abyss, When My Love Blooms Romance Is An Afterthought, IRIS (2009), Brilliant Legacy, Age of Youth 2, Age of Youth I, Reply 1994, Truth, Nonstop, Over The Rainbow

Yonsei University, one of South Korea's top three renowned colleges and where Parasite filmmaker Bong Joon-ho is also an alumnus, is a favourite among K-drama producers.

This area is frequently used to film school and college scenes due to its incredible architecture. The Sinchon Campus's Underwood-Hall houses a museum dedicated to the university's founder, Horace G Underwood. Snowdrop featured parts of this university as Hosu Woman's University.

Jumunjin Beach Breakwater, Gangneung-si

Featured in: Racket Boys, More Than Friends, Goblin, Hotel King, Racket Boys

For the first time on her birthday, Ji Eun-Tak (Kim Go-Eun) meets the Goblin, aka Kim Shin (Gong Yoo), in what is known as the red-scarf scene. The female protagonist of the series frequently visits this K-drama locale to speak with her late mother. It is easily accessible from Jumunjin Port and is located in Gangneung-si. It was, however, less well-known until the scene became popular.

Sinchon Graffiti Tunnel, Seoul

Featured in Mint Condition, Imitation, Hello, Me!, and Hello, You! My First First Love, Private Lives, Record of Youth Manhole, Touch Your Heart While You Were Sleeping Dream Knight, The Best Hit, Goblin, among others.

Remember the funny scene in Goblin where Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) and the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) stroll through a tunnel in style while a biker screams at them to take the sidewalk? They smile and wave as they presume he's wishing them a 'Happy New Year' in his unique way. The vivid graffiti art is readily visible in this image, photographed brilliantly in and around the tunnel. However, the graffiti in the scene has been changed now. Nonetheless, it is an exciting location.

Bok Chicken

Featured in Weightlifting Fairy, the famous bok chicken, where in reality, the restaurant is called Jageun Maeul, and it's a popular hangout for students from the surrounding university because of its low prices and good food. Jageun Maeul is the perfect place to relive Bok Joo and Joon Hyung's awkward romance that made us swoon.

Seoul Land

Featured in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

No Korean drama is complete without an endearing theme park date that makes us wish we had our own Oppa. If Bong Soon and Min Hyuk's date in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon seems ideal, take your significant other to Seoul Land! Because of the shorter queues, many people prefer this park to larger parks like Everland.

N Seoul Tower

It's no surprise that the cult favourite drama 'Boys Over Flowers' was filmed at one of Seoul's most iconic sites! Jun Pyo and Jan Di were set to enjoy their romantic date at the tower.

It's a favourite date site for couples because of its beautiful views of Seoul. Maybe you'll run into your own Jun Pyo while taking in the scenery.

Aqua Planet Yeosu

This Legend of the Blue Sea set is the perfect venue to relive the show's romance if the scene where Joon Jae and Shim Cheong reunited made your heart melt. The aquarium was used for several sequences, but this reunion moment was shot in front of the Ocean's Life main aquarium.

The aquarium spans four storeys and has approximately 280 species; Seoul's second-largest. Don't miss out on their fantastic mermaid performances while you're there!

Pizza Alvolo (Yeoksam Branch)

It's okay to be not okay; Moon Gang-tae worked part-time at Pizza Alvolo after his best friend, Jo Jae-soo, got him a job there. The striking logo and blue delivery motorcycles placed outside the restaurant are likely to attract attention, especially compared to the other shops along Yeoksam street. Unlike other Pizza Alvolo locations that sell pizza, this one was created with the healthy burger company Mokdong Burger. Naturally, burgers are available at this location.

Live Café & Pub

Oh Cheon-Jae, a former singer who had a popular song in the 1990s, runs the Live Café & Pub in Gongjin in the drama. He struggles with raising his daughter, who enjoys K-pop idols but does not hesitate to speak back to grownups. After seeing the lovely façade of the building in the drama, who'd have believed that it's a hardware factory on the inside?
