The back lane cleanliness drive was carried out in areas such as Dwarka Sec 6, 19 and 21, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, New Friends Colony, Green Park, Subhash Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Rajinder Nagar, various sectors of Rohini, Vivekanand Puri, Bazar Sitaram, Koocha Seth, Yamuna Vihar, Dilshad Garden, Janakpuri, Milap Nagar, Patpadganj, IP Extn, Model Town, Pritam Pura and Narela DDA flats among others.

LG Saxena has been closely monitoring such drives himself and has emphasised upon cleanliness being comprehensive and not cosmetic.

He had specifically directed that cleaning of bylanes and alleys of colonies are to be undertaken in the cleanliness drives rather than just focusing on main roads and exterior of colonies. MCD is accordingly carrying out special drive for effecting cleanliness in the back lanes of colonies in its jurisdiction and intends it to be an ongoing exercise, as directed by LG.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi's various departments like Sanitation, Horticulture, Maintenance and Public Health are working in tandem to make this drive a success. Sanitation department is carrying out cleanliness drives in the back lanes, the maintenance department is picking up garbage and C&D waste from the back lanes, the Horticulture department is clearing grass and weeds from the backlanes and the public health department is carrying out anti larval measures and action against mosquito breeding. This special drive is being carried out in all 12 municipal zones by preparing a wardwise action plan. This drive is carried out thrice a week and staff concerned works 2-3 hours on designated days for this purpose.
