Delhiites get relief from heat after much-awaited rain

After days of hot and humid weather, Delhiites finally got relief from the heat as the capital witnessed rain on July 16, 2022. Heavy rain and thunderstorms were recorded at several locations. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Delhi's minimum temperature came down to 27 degrees celsius.

According to the IMD, the national capital will experience a typically cloudy sky with thunderstorms and light precipitation throughout the next three days.

The rain also however brought waterlogging and traffic congestion in certain parts of the city. Delhi traffic police, in a tweet, warned commuters to plan their journey accordingly. They informed at 2:06 pm that traffic is affected on New Rohtak Road in the carriageway from Anand Parbat towards Zakhira due to waterlogging opposite Gali number 10 Anand Parbat.

The air quality of the city has also come in the satisfactory range after the rain according to CPCB. An AQI of 68- 80 has been recorded at many stations. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

As per the earlier tweet of IMD, the rain was expected in the city today, according to IMD. At 8.30 am, the relative humidity was 72%, according to the IMD bulletin.
