The much-awaited mega plantation drive by NEFOWA took place in Greater Noida West on July 24, 2022. 1014 saplings were planted around various societies of Greater Noida West. A cycle rally and painting competition was also held on the occasion.
Abhishek Kumar, President, Nefowa says, “We celebrated a massive tree plantation festival in Greater Noida West. The preparations for the program were going on for a long time. Before planting trees on Sunday, pits were made for planting saplings in different areas on Saturday itself."
The mega plantation drive started with a cycle rally. The cycle rally started from Charmurthy and ended at the NEFOWA office via Ekamurti Circle, Ryan School and Nirala Estate Society.
A large number of cyclists from GreNo West's Super Women Athlete Group, Cyclo-Cross Team and from NECC cycling group took part in the rally. All the cyclists were given refreshments and saplings at the NEFOWA office.
Vikash Katiyar, NEFOWA member informs that along with tree plantation, a virtual painting competition was also organized in which the participants had to submit a painting related to nature at the NEFOWA office. The winners will be announced on July 31 and certificates would be given to all the participants of the rally and painting competition.
Residents from many societies took an active part in the mega plantation drive. Sagar Gupta, resident of Spring Meadows says, “Today we planted 58 saplings outside our society. We not only planted the saplings, but we also brought a water tank from our own expense and watered the saplings hand to hand, because we want to take care of our plants from day one.”
Jyoti Jaiswal, Member, Nefowa and resident of Supertech Eco village 2 says, “I had a wonderful time today. I want to appeal to all residents to plant more trees to make this planet breathable."
Manish Kumar, Senior VP highlights that all the members who planted the saplings have also filed an affidavit for the care of all the plants. In this, all the members have to provide a selfie with the plant to Nefowa every month till 2023 Holi or post a tagged photo on social media or NEFOWA's email address.
Sagar Gupta, Member, Nefowa and resident of Spring Meadows says, “During the scarcity of oxygen in covid times, we realised the value of what nature provides us.
It’s high time to pay back to nature and our coming generation. We, the residents of TechZone4 have taken an oath to adopt to plant more trees and take care of them. We would also share pictures to keep others motivated."
As gathered, various members including Vikas Katiyar, Dinkar Pandey, Bhawna Gaur, Barnali Mahela, Sagar Gupta, Shipra Gupta, Dharmendra Panwar, Raj Kumar, Sukhpal Singh, Devesh Chahal, Deepak Gupta, Amit Singh, Rakesh Ranjan worked tirelessly to make this mega drive a success.
