New Delhi: An exhibition titled 'Hum Panch' showcasing paintings and sculptures of a group of artists was on view recently at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. The five artists whose works were on display were Bapusaheb Zanje, Bipin Kumar, Uttam Chapte, Satish Vamanrao Kale, Anand N. Dabli.
Artist and art critic, Jai Tripathi, a senior fellow in visual art at CCRT, Ministry of Culture, writes about the five artists. With an experience of over three decades in the Indian art scene, Tripathi critically describes the work of each artist in the group show.
Bapusaheb Zanje from Osmanabad, Maharashtra is described as an intellectual and peace-loving sculptor. Jai Tripathi says, "Bapusaheb Zanje is a multidisciplinary artist who incorporates the real world into his art." According to Tripathi, his craft is dynamic and brimming with expressions which makes his works alive, touching and sincere.
Bipin Kumar is a resident of Vaishali, Ghaziabad who and originates from Munger, Bihar, reflects the absurdity of life through his art. According to Tripathi, Bipin's art is open to interpretation and requires one to have an open and enquiring mind.
Uttam Chapte is a contemporary painter from New Mumbai, Maharashtra. His art is unmatched in its level of art element. "On considering the store of colours and textures in his works, it becomes clear that its store is mainly his art vision", says Tripathi.
Satish Vamanrao Kale is another outstanding painter from Pune, Maharashtra. He has beautifully combined thought and artistry in modern contemporary art. Jai Tripathi says, "His paintings made from time to time over his sage-like journey testify to the development he has undertaken as an artist." The technology and surface texture used by him is unmatched in its genre and art element.
Anand N. Dabli from Nagpur, Maharashtra is a painter whose paintings are full of nature and colour. About his art, Jai Tripathi says, "Due to the effect it has on people, it can be rightly concluded that it speaks to the non-verbal parts of their existence."
